Well that didn’t last long.

I lasted one week on wordpress before it annoyed me too much. Yes, the interface is nicer and more sophisticated. Yes, the iphone app is wonderful. But there is one thing in particular that I really hate, and that is the inability to customise the CSS, without paying $15 a year for it. And even then, you can’t upload your own template, you have to customise one of the WordPress ones. After using blogger sporadically earlier this year and appreciating being able to tweak my template, I found the idea of not being able to do so, to quote the princess bride, inconceivable.

Therefore, so long wordpress. Hello Blogger. From now on, I’ll be posting over at:

Teasing myself with thoughts of things I can’t have (for now).

In my waking moments, when I’m not distracted by thoughts of footings, concrete and how to get a correct measurement (tip: measure at the top, middle and bottom. If its something like steel or timber, add 5mm. If its something like alumnium or glass, something that needs to fit into something, subtract 5mm. Always be at the same level as whatever you’re measuring, don’t look up or down at it. ) I like to imagine what my life would look like if I lived in the city. Which will hopefully be next year.

In this dream life, Z, Toz and I all share a funky terrace house or an apartment with wooden floorboards, where there is ample space for us and the ferrets to coexist peacefully.

In this dream house, I have a space of my own. Perhaps it’s a room, perhaps it’s a study, perhaps it’s a broom closet. I don’t care. After 2 years of living in s house that consists of living room, bedroom, bathroom, I’m craving my own space. Somewhere I can have quiet when I’m studying, and not be quiet when I don’t want to be. Somewhere where I can play my music and sing and make a mess, and then be able to shut the door and not have it affect the rest of the house.

I dint really care about what the bedrooms look like, although I do like this one. Again, I love the floor boards.

A perfect livingroom in my opinion.

I really love this house. What a shame that things aren’t in place for us to move until at least next March.

Word of the Day-Diffuser

Diffuser- something that goes in front of a light to spread the light and make it softer.

They’re also really hard to take a photo of, due to the way they manipulate the light. I took these pictures on my iPhone and I was freaking out that there was something wrong with my phone camera, because of the dirty great lines on the screen.

Thankfully, one of my friendly co-workers pointed out that it was only happening when I took pictures of the light, so I shouldn’t really worry about it.

Schnuckums-and no, I don’t know how to spell that.

Somehow , I’ve acquired a cat.

He is quite cute and ever hopeful. Always sitting outside the door, hoping I will be distracted or clumsy and allow him to dart inside. Which he does, quite a lot.

He does have owners, but they went away and left him for two weeks (so far) with only an automatic food dispenser for company. I think thats kind of cruel. I’m not a cat person, I’m not very good with their likes and dislikes, but even I can see that this cat needs a bit of love and attention every now and again.

So in addition to our pot plants and three ferrets, we have temporarily adopted a cat into our house. Things are getting quite crowded.

I am glad we’re moving soon.

Well I’m halfway there. I have the bedroom and the bathroom clean. Only the lounge and the kitchen to go. Did I mention that I expect Z home in an hour?

I really do. I get to laze around the house, and do whatever I feel like. There is no work to do, and Z leaves the house to go play games with his friends, which leaves me free to turn the house into a mess. Which I have no trouble doing.

But unfortunately, mess and Z do not go well together, and I haven’t done very much house work this week. At all. In fact, I don’t think I’ve done any, unless you count rinsing a glass or two.

This is what the house looks like at the moment.

As you can see, it needs a clean. If I clean it, I can surprise Z when he comes home. And if I clean the house, perhaps I can find my iPhone charger, not that I need an ulterior motive to surprise my beloved.

I’m going to leave this as a before post. And if I don’t post after photos that show a wonderful sparkling house within the next few hours, I’m going to hang my head in shame.
